How do I answer a question on my business page?

As a business owner, you have the ability to answer any question asked about your business on Yelp in the Ask the Community section of your business’s Yelp page. Please keep our Content Guidelines in mind before you submit an answer.

If you come across a question or answer that you feel may violate Yelp's guidelines, please let our moderators know by reporting it. Keep in mind that you may still need to claim your Yelp business page in order to report content from a business account.

From the Yelp for Business website (biz.yelp.com)

  1. Locate the Community Questions section from your Yelp for Business page. If you have access to multiple business pages, make sure you’re viewing the correct one

  2. Locate the question you want to answer

  3. Click the Answer button

  4. Type your answer in the text box

  5. Click Post answer

If you or another business owner account holder has already responded to the question, you cannot post a new one. You can edit or remove your own answer by locating the answer and clicking the pencil icon (to edit the answer) or the trash icon (to remove it). Note that you can remove an answer submitted by another business owner but cannot edit their answers.

From the Yelp for Business app

  1. From the Home tab, scroll down and tap Community Questions. If you have access to multiple business pages, make sure you’re viewing the correct one

  2. Find the question that you want to answer

  3. Tap the Answer button

  4. Type your answer

  5. Tap Post

If you or another business owner account holder has already responded to the question, you cannot post a new one. You can edit or remove your own answer by locating the answer and clicking the Edit answer or Edit button or the Remove button. Note that you can remove an answer submitted by another business owner but cannot edit their answers.

Guidelines for answering a question on your business page

  • Not every question calls for the business owner's input. For example, "What's your favorite dish here?" is more of a question for the community.
  • There can be only one active answer from a business owner per question. If another representative of the business on your account has already answered the question, you will not be able to contribute unless you remove their answer.
  • You can remove your answer, or any other business owner answer, at any time (and post a new one if you desire). Removing your answer also removes any Helpful votes associated with your answer.
  • You can edit your answer for a brief period. After this period is over, we ask that you remove your answer and repost it if you’d like to make changes.
  • If you come across an unhelpful, inflammatory or inappropriate question or answer, we recommend reporting it so our moderators can address the issue.
