You can either manually type in your desired search, or for iPhone/iPad users, click the microphone icon on the Yelp app to use speech recognition. For example, users can type or say “I need help fixing a leaky faucet” and Yelp will pull up businesses based on your set location.
You’ll see some suggested filtering options above your results, which allow you to fine-tune your search results based on factors like price, hours, and the ability to transact with a business through Yelp (please note that we may be compensated for helping you transact with those businesses). You can see additional filtering options by clicking All Filters (website) or tapping the Filter icon in the search bar (Android/iPhone). You can also use filters to sort your results in different ways.
You can also manually change the geographic area you are searching using the map.
To search using the Map:
On Yelp.com

Click and drag the map to move the area, or zoom in/out to change the range
- Click Redo Search in Map
- Click Search as map moves to view updated results as you move the map area
If you're using an iPhone/iPad or Android

Tap the map icon in the upper right corner
- Pinch to zoom, or drag to move the map
- Tap Redo Search In This Area
- For more information on the individual search results, choose a map pin or scroll down to see a list of search results
To search using your iPhone/iPad Microphone:
- Tap the microphone icon in the search box. Note: you may need to grant the Yelp app access your microphone and speech recognition
- Say your search inquiry then tap the microphone icon again to end
- Select from the auto-populated results or click Search
